TO ALL CONCERNED! Aug/12/2009
I am a very mad mother! On Aug./04/2009, at about 2:00 PM, during a traffic stop, where the child's father James Farbotnik was arrested without affirmed cause, told because the father was allegedly driving our farm tractor on a State Hwy on the way to Tractor Supply Store, and he stopped at the corner store to buy my 10 year old son some pop-icicles in hot 92+ degree weather. But buying pop-icicles while in operation of a farm tractor which is considered apparently illegal in the State of NY, according to police it is illegal to stop into a corner store with a farm tractor, because you are not immediately engaged in farming by doing this, and it is an abuse of the NY agricultural laws according to the rookie State Trooper "Brian Coakley"! Our tractor was towed away and impounded! I think this all is craziness! Then the State Trooper told my husband that his NY driver's license was under suspension! I know my husband's NY Driver's license is not under suspension, because in the past 15 years we have been together I know that he only got one ticket 10 years ago and I paid it by check for him!
My 10 year old son shut the tractor off, and watched his father get arrested. While my son was standing by the tractor, with the tractor's elastic key wrist band firmly on the child's wrist and key in hand, the big NY State Trooper "Brian Coakley" came over to my son and without provocation, physically assaulted my innocent son by aggressively, and repeatedly, slapping my sons hand trying to make my son drop the keys from his hand, but the wrist band held the key firmly onto the child's wrist and the key could not be released as the child tried to let go of the key! The officer kept slapping my child's hand. In fear and crying, my son started to run from the aggressive officer, blurrily eyed with tears, straight into the busy oncoming State Hwy 37c traffic as the officer chased my son. My son stopped when he heard his father yell to stop. My son then ran home about a mile down the busy State Hwy 37c. I was not home. My son tried to call me, but got a busy signal, so my son hid under the bed crying until I got home at about 8:00 PM!
But the NY State Trooper Rookie "Brian Coakley" nor any State Trooper thereafter, made any attempt to insure that the young child made it home safely after arresting the father (parent) on a busy State Highway. I went down to make complaint to the NY State Trooper's Massena Barracks, but Sergeant Paduano "refused to take a complaint against one of his own officers for misconduct". The conduct of State Trooper "Coakley" ,and then cover-up by Sergeant Paduano is outrageous! I have now called State Trooper Major Smith and spoke to him, and I am making a formal written complaint to internal affairs in Syracuse!
Arrest my husband and give him some tickets, no big deal my husband is big enough to deal with it. But slapping my son, and placing my 10 year old son in harm and danger on the busy State Hwy 37c is a heinous action. This young Officer needs to go back to school and be retrained before some innocent person gets killed by the State Trooper's unprofessional actions!
